IKEA, Wickes or a local stone fabricator?
IKEA and Wickes are popular places to buy a kitchen, and both sell worktops to go with it. Here's how buying from a big retailer compares with having stone worktops made and fitted by a local fabricator.
IKEA
IKEA sells a range of kitchen worktops, from laminate and wood to made-to-measure options, including stone-effect and quartz-style surfaces in some ranges. Made-to-measure worktops are usually measured and fitted through IKEA's own service partners.
Wickes
Wickes sells laminate, solid wood and other worktops, including stone-effect designs, alongside its kitchen ranges. What's available made to order and how fitting works can vary, so it's worth checking with your local store.
